Right now in math we're learning about prisms, pyamids andother geometric shaps and their volumes. We're also learning about things that displace and don't displace water. We're having a math test on may 12th.

GO WEST!!
My name is Nathan Destefano from Mr. Marinello's class, and I play the wagon master in the play, Go West. I lead the cowpokes and the miners in the second scene. We have a lot of fun every day at our rehearsals. Sometimes we mess up on the dances a little, but I'm sure when you're there, we won't forget a step :). My favorite dance is Go for the Gold, because it is one of the faster paced songs, and it is lively. My favorite scene is scene two, because I have a big role in this scene, and most of my lines are in this scene too.
Scene seven is a great scene also because everybody is in it. I am very satisfied with my character and the reason is I like having a significant role in scene two. Don't forget though that everybody gets their turn in the spotlight or at least in a small group of two or three. We have the times of each individual class's performance listed below. Don't miss your child in the spotlight! Hope to see you in the gym on May 14th!
Stemper's class: 9:30 a.m.
Marinello's class: 10:30 a.m.
Sommerville's class: 1:00 p.m.
Mikulecky's class: 2:00 p.m.

The fifth graders, this year, have been having a great time doing Go West. Last week, we tried on our costumes and got our pictures taken. Our class did this on April 29th and had loads of fun! We have been practicing every day, learning lyrics, acting and dancing! We are even going to have orchestra players play before each performence. Go West will be a wonderful show!

Guest Blogger: Hema 5th grade trip to WHMS!
On Friday the fifth grade went to Wisconsin Hills Middle School! First we separated into groups. Then we went to different classrooms to observe sixth graders hard at work. After that we went into the library and we watched the welcome video. Then we went on tours with some sixth graders. Then we went to the lunch room. We had some chips and a juice box. Last we got on the buses and went back to Swanson. It was a fun trip!

In Science , lately we have been working on Mixtures and Solutions. One of our experiments was trying to get salt to a point where no matter what we do, salt will not dissolve in the water any more. This is called a saturated solution. We also weighed how many grams of salt dissolved in the water. We did that by taking all of the salt that didn’t dissolve out with a filter then we had a scale and put the same amount of water on each side of the scale but one side had the dissolved salt and the other had gram cubes for measuring. This may seem easy but it is hard to make sure you are controlling all of the variables. It was fun but hard.
